During the first few weeks of a kitten’s life, good nutrition is essential. Kittens are born with their eyes closed and they can’t hear. In order for these senses and the rest of their bodies to grow and develop correctly they need the right nutritional building blocks. Designed to closely resemble natural queen’s milk, Beaphar Lactol Kitten Milk is a complete milk replacer containing easily digestible, high quality proteins, as well as essential vitamins and minerals. Beaphar Lactol Kitten Milk has been developed to make sure it provides kittens with the best start in life, and in 2018 we will upgrade to our most advanced formulation yet.

Beaphar Lactol is made from whey protein powder which is naturally rich in essential amino acids and highly digestible. This means that kittens are able to absorb and utilise the nutrients they need more easily than other milk replacers that are made from skimmed milk powder. To improve digestibility further, during the production process Beaphar Lactol is dried at a low temperature; high temperature drying can damage the delicate and vital protein molecules, making the resultant product far less nutritionally-valuable than Beaphar Lactol.

DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid. It is naturally present in maternal milk and is essential for the development of cognitive function and vision. This means it also has the potential to help improve house trainability and socialisation in kittens.

By including DHA in Beaphar Lactol Kitten Milk, we are making certain that kittens are being given the best nutritional building blocks to help them develop into healthy, happy cats.

As well as being suitable for newborn kittens, Beaphar Lactol Kitten Milk can also be given to Mother Cats.

During both the later stages of pregnancy and nursing, Mother Cats need higher levels of nutrients, vitamins and protein that they would day-to-day. Regular adult cat food often doesn’t contain the required nutritional support Mum needs to meet the increasing demands placed on her body as she goes through pregnancy, but there are alternatives.

Many people suggest feeding your cat high quality kitten food, as this formulated specifically for growing kittens and so contains everything Mum needs for a healthy pregnancy and healthy kittens. This should be introduced gradually by mixing a small amount of kitten food with her regular adult food to help her tummy adjust.

While a pregnant cat’s appetite can increase, you may also find she’s reluctant to eat as she gets closer to giving birth. As Beaphar Lactol Kitten Milk is liquid, you may find that your cat finds this easier to manage rather than solid food.

During the weaning process, Beaphar Lactol Kitten Milk can also be mixed with solid kitten food to help kittens adjust to a more solid diet. As they get older the amount of Beaphar Lactol can be reduced and the amount of kitten food increased until kittens are fully on solid food.
